The Hope Library
📍 Hope, Alaska
There are many accounts of ghostly sightings at the library in Hope, Alaska.
Years ago, when the library was first opened, visitors would occasionally ask a strange question:
“Who is the woman upstairs?”
There wasn’t supposed to be anyone upstairs.
But several men insisted they had seen a woman standing at the upstairs window, quietly looking out. Each time they asked about her, they were told the same thing: no one was there.
At first it seemed easy to dismiss. The upstairs was checked often, and no one was ever found. But after hearing the same story from different people over the years, the possibility began to feel harder to ignore.
There were other small mysteries too.
From time to time, books would be found scattered across the floor. At first it was blamed on small earthquakes that sometimes shake the area. But many of the times the books had fallen, there had been no tremor at all.
The building itself has a long history. Built by local residents in 1938, it originally served as the town’s school before later becoming the library.
Some have wondered if the woman people claimed to see might have been connected to those earlier days, perhaps a teacher who once worked there.
No one ever found an explanation.
It remains just another quiet mystery in an old building with a long past. đź‘»
